Food Network checks out hot dog stand

Jim MizellFriday, Jul. 11, 2008, at 1:29 pm

A crew from the Food Network descended on Evanston's Wiener and Still Champion this morning.

Wiener
Owner Gus Paschalis gets the dipping dog taste-test reaction from show host Guy Fieri.

While customers looked on, Guy Fieri, the host of "Diners, Drive Ins and Dives," tried his hand in the kitchen at 802 Dempster St. at making Gus Paschalis's signature handmade dipping dogs, known to the rest of the world as corn dogs.

The air date for the episode has not yet been announced.

Yep, those dippin' dogs are great, but you haven't lived until you get the chili-cheese fries! Best ever - homemade chili from Gus' own secret recipie he makes up himself. And of course, gotta have the chili dog too - just for variety........

How cool, one of Evanston's very own. I guess this settles the debate for best cheap eats in town. I know I'm heading there today for lunch.
