Evanston's Independence Day celebration wrapped up on the lakefront Friday evening with music from the Palatine Concert Band and the traditional fireworks display.

It was a cool evening with a light breeze off the lake, but a big crowd turned out, including some spectators from Chicago who said Evanston's fireworks were more impressive than what they'd seen at the Taste of Chicago.
