New driver plows into cars on Sherman

Witnesses say an SUV driving north on Sherman Avenue near Simpson Street in Evanston plowed into several other vehicles and hit a lamp post early this evening.

"I heard a crash and ran outside, when I saw what was happening, I just stood there screaming," said Jane Gordan, who was in her apartment near the intersection when the incident happened just before 6 p.m.

Some see red over planned traffic signal

Most speakers at a 1st Ward meeting Tuesday night said they oppose plans to install a new traffic signal on Sheridan Road south of Garrett Place at the entrance to a Northwestern University parking lot.

Students robbed near NU campus

Two male Northwestern students were robbed near the intersection of Haven Street and Orrington Avenue in Evanston early this morning.

University officials have issued a campus alert saying the incident happened about 12:43 a.m.
