Man charged in early morning robbery
Friday, August 20, 2010, at 9:30 pm by Bill SmithA 19-year-old Chicago man has been charged with robbing an Evanston man in the 800 block of Brown Avenue early this morning.
Antoine Walker of the 6200 block of N. Claremont is due in court Saturday for a bond hearing.
Police say Walker and an accomplice approached the 22-year-old Evanston man about 1 a.m. as the man walked west on Main Street from Dodge Avenue.
Library opens west side outpost

Evanston's West End Market this morning opens its third season of bringing farm-fresh produce to the city's west side.
The market will be open 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday through Oct. 30. Today there'll also be live entertainment at the market at the intersection of Church Street and Dodge Avenue from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. And the market also offers west side entrepreneurs a chance to sell baked goods, handmade products and other items.
William Logan, chairman of the Evanston Community Development Corporation, which runs the market, says a new focal point this year will be Second Chance Produce, a collaborative effort of ECDC, the Boocoo cultural center and local churches.

Plaza receiver to meet with tenants

The city's planning division chief, Dennis Marino, told members of the Economic Development Committee Wednesday night that the meeting is tentatively scheduled for May 20.
