Evanston city officials say a mistake by a contractor working on the sewer system left many homeowners in south and central Evanston with water backed up into their basements over the weekend.

The FBI has a suspect in custody tonight following an armed robbery Wednesday afternoon at the First Bank & Trust branch at 741 Main St. in Evanston.

More trouble for Main Street bank branch

Evanston Police swarmed around the First Bank and Trust Branch at 741 Main St. late this afternoon after the bank was apparently robbed for the second time in less than a week.

South Branch Library to open evenings
