Sophomore guard Dravon Clayborn broke loose for 7 points in the final 3 minutes Tuesday night to cap a perfect night for Evanston’s basketball team.
All 14 players — including Clayborn — who saw action scored points for the Wildkits, who buried Chicago Taft by a 71-34 margin in the second round of the Battle of the Bridge Thanksgiving Tournament at DePaul Prep.
Evanston improved to 2-0 on the season and will meet the host team on Wednesday at 3 p.m. for the right to advance to Friday’s championship game. Wednesday’s contest was originally scheduled for 8 p.m. but has been moved to a 3 o’clock start.

Dylan Mulvihill (13 points, 7 rebounds) and Chris Hamil (12 points) led the scoring parade for the winners, who built a 44-22 halftime lead and cruised to victory. Backing them up were Tre Marshall, Nojel Eastern and Clayborn with 7 points apiece.
ETHS forced 24 turnovers and limited the Eagles (0-2) to 26 percent (12-of-46) shooting from the floor.
“We did a good job with our on-the-ball defense to force that many turnovers, better than we did last night,” said Evanston coach Mike Ellis. “And we shot 55 percent (25-of-45) ourselves, so our shot selection was better tonight, too. This was a good team win.”
