The City of Evanston is conducting an online poll to help choose a logo for the new 3-1-1 call center it plans to launch next March.

Leadership Evanston and Linda Hansen of Wild Crow Communications have designed six versions of a proposed logo at no charge to the city.

Those designs include the one shown with this story.

All the logo designs incorporate elements from the city seal and some include a key shape as part of the design.

You can see them all and choose the one you like best here.

City officials say the call center will provide residents a single point of contact for all non-emergency city services and programs.

The Evanston/Skokie District 65 Board of Education moved closer Monday night to appointing a committee that would help sell the rationale for a new school, assuming they determine that a referendum is necessary to obtain funding to solve a projected space crunch.

While all other city departments are being told to cut their budgets 5 percent, Evanston's Library Board Monday night demanded a 11 percent spending increase.

The board voted to restore service at the north and south branch libraries from four days a week to five and made no cuts in staffing, except to convert a full-time job that's been vacant for two years to a part-time position.
