Should National Louis University have to pay property tax on the PACE program site?

Bill SmithTuesday, Jul. 15, 2008, at 2:39 pm

National Louis is resposible for the Pace students even though the Pace program doesn't involve its regular clientell and is restrictly private.I found when I was a Pace students, and I heard this from others that they are against if you want to get together with your family or friends outside of Pace they advise you not to. My question would be with such a secluded program why would this be because they inforce indepence when they should be teaching you to interact within your community. thank you

Should National Louis Universtiy make a payment to the city in place of property taxes?

( although I think your question is OK since it is asking the question of tax payment versus payment to weigh how people feel on the issue.)

Being a not for profit they are not required to pay the taxes. The city in the past has gotten payments from non-for-profits during the zoning process.
Another issue with the payments is the schools usually do not get them.

What might be interesting is to ask a second question if NU were the applicant should they make a payement? Given the small number of votes could be mostly people directly involved in the issue.
