Amy Morton's The Barn restaurant in Evanston will get a new outdoor garden seating next month, along with the addition of Chef de Cuisine Amanda Barnes to the all-female management team.
Morton says the restaurant will also have an updated menu and will be open seven nights a week starting Monday, June 5.
“Since opening in November of last year, we’ve been thrilled with our guests’ response,” Morton says. “Creating a little gem of an outside space and garden while showcasing our new spring menu is really icing on the cake to what we’ve already built.”
With a decade-long background in the kitchens of some of Chicago’s most revered restaurants under the tutelage of Michelin-starred and James Beard Award-winning chefs, Barnes introduces her exceptional culinary pedigree to the "meat-centric hideaway."
“I like to balance creativity and seasonality with the best possible product I can get my hands on to cook something that's both innovative and relevant," she says,
Among the new menu offerings are Burrata di Bufala with tomato toast, marcona almonds, pea, and lovage pesto, Crab Spaghetti with jumbo lump crab, white wine, shallots, garlic, chili, and parmesan and Seared Halibut Filet with fingerling potatoes, artichokes, royal trumpets, morels, and ramps.
The Barn is located at Rear 1016 Church St. in the alley that runs east-west between Maple and Oak avenues.
