Anne Sills, who was among supporters of the failed 2012 campaign to build a 5th Ward school, is making her first race for election to the Evanston Township High School Board.

Sills, who declined a request by Evanston Now to be interviewed about her campaign, ran for the District 65 school board in 2001 finishing fifth in a six-candidate race for four seats on that board.

The former owner of a catering firm, Sills, of 2232 Lincolnwood Drive, says on her campaign website that she has 24 years of experience as a volunteer activist on education and food-related issues in Evanston. She’s a former president of the PTA Council.

She’s an ETHS graduate and has two grown children who also graduated from the high school.

Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story, based on erronious information from the State Board of Elections, inaccurately reported that Sills won a seat on the District 65 board in 2001.

  1. Anne Sills lost my vote
Why did Anne decline a request by Evanston Now to be interviewed?
What does she have to hide?
Citizens need to be informed and hold public officials accountable.
I appreciate the School Board election series by Evanston Now since there are a paucity of public forums
    to learn about the candidates.
If Anne won’t agree to an interview, I won’t vote for her.

    1. You can run, but you can’t hide

She would have to explain why she was in favor of a 5th Ward school.
