If you have books or other materials you want to donate to the Evanston Public Library, you’d better do it by July 9.
After that, the staff will be involved in preparing and organizing the main library for a major space renovation and reorganization.
But in a news release, the library recommended other venues for book donations, including the following:
The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago; call (855) 968-3662 for pick up at your home.
Open Books: call (312) 475-1355 for more information about this non-profit organization that cultivates the literacy skills of thousands of children and youth each year, from those who need intervention to those who desire enrichment.
The Salvation Army, 4335 Oakton Ave, Skokie, (800) 728-7825.

i wonder why then library didn’t also mention Goodwill Industries. It is located in the southwest corner of the little mall at Dodge and Dempster. The drop-off is quite nicely done and you can get a receipt immediately. There is always someone to assist with drop-offs and it is a sheltered spot so that, unlike some other places, you won’t get rained or snowed on when you make your donation. It is also quite a bit closer than the Salvation Army in Skokie. I have been ever so grateful for them since they moved into Evanston last December.
