An exhibit at the Garden Club of America’s recent Show of Summer at the Chicago Botanic Garden featuring trees planted on the Evanston Township High School campus won a significant national award last weekend.
The exhibit, created by the Garden Club of Evanston, recounted a multi-year project between the club and ETHS to create an arboretum on the ETHS school grounds.
It won the Ann Lyon Crammond Award “for an outstanding education exhibit which increases the knowledge and appreciation of plants, gardens, or landscape design.”
A sign on the exhibit defines an arboretum as "a collection of trees and woody shrubs for education and display, through signage."
It was one of several awards in different categories that was won by the Evanston club.
