Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl will be on hand Wednesday afternoon to cut the ribbon at the Evanston Public Library’s Summer Reading Stop at the Evanston Plaza shopping center.

Library Director Karen Daznczak Lyons says the stopping center outpost is one of several ways the library is taking its services out into the community.

As of last week, Lyons said, over 3,100 children had regsitered for the summer reading programs at several library locations.

Lyons says this year’s theme, “Reading is So Delicious,” has captured the interestof children from preschool through fifth grade.

The ribbon-cutting is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

Hours at the Summer Reading Stop are Mondays and Wednesdays 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The space at the shopping center has been donated by the plaza’s owner, Bonnie Management Company.
