Resurfacing work on Oakton Street from Dodge to Asbury avenues in Evanston is scheduled to begin Monday.
The project will include curb and gutter replacement, roadway base repair, replacement of the asphalt surface from curb to curb, along with selected replacement of sidewalks and driveway aprons.
Accessible sidewalk ramps will be built at each intersection, and curb extension/bump outs will be built at the intersection with Wesley Avenue.
The work is expected to be completed by Aug. 18.
Construction dates for each section of the project will be posted on temporary “No Parking” signs 48 hours prior to the start of work.
Construction zone daytime “No Parking” restrictions will be intermittent throughout the duration of the project; evening and nighttime parking, from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m., will always be available.
Street sweeping and neighborhood parking restrictions will be waived for a one-block radius around the construction zone when the temporary daytime “No Parking” is in effect. One lane of traffic each way on Oakton will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
Any sprinkler system should be identified and marked with a flag by the property owner prior to the start of construction to prevent damages.
The project is funded by the city’s capital improvement program. The contractor on the project is A. Lamp Concrete Contractors, Inc., 1900 Wright Blvd., Schaumburg.
