Evanston fire union puts no skin in game
Wow, so the Evanston Fire Department will see no cuts in overtime or merit pay. The Evanston fire union is making no sacrifice in these hard economic times.
I bet the fire union will gets its demand of a pay increase this year as well.
No layoffs, no cuts in overtime, merit pay and unpaid time off. Two Evanston fire stations will remain on Central Street a little more than one mile apart. No effort to do anything about the union pension mess that is bankrupting our city.
This is why our property taxes just keep going up. It's to pay for the unustainable demands of the government unions.
If you're happy that your property taxes have gone up again while your property values declined once again then this shouldn't bother you.
If you're mad as heck, it's time to do something. Vote Republican because Republicans and unions mix like vinegar and water.
It's time to end the arrogance of our one-party system.
Vote the Council and all Democrats on every government level OUT!!!
If you disagree, take another look at your property tax bill, and consider that we pay the highest sales tax in the nation. Then ask yourself why and who is responsible.
