New photo gallery opens

Eighteen photographers opened the first show in their new Evanston gallery this weekend.

Perspective Group and Photography Gallery, Ltd., is a co-op organized by photographers from Evanston and the surrounding area whose mission is to promote fine art photography through exhibitions, workshops, and outreach activities.
For many in the group, it means converting a lifetime hobby into a serious business by offering some of their prized photography for sale.
After scouring the North Shore for an appropriate venue, the group leased space at 1310 Chicago Ave. in the Chicago-Dempster shopping district.
Their plan is to feature the photography of one or two of their members each month, while continuing to display photographs from other members.
The initial exhibit, which will run throughout June, features photos by Anthony Iacuzzi and Howard Hart. Featured in July will be the work of Peter Nussbaum and Faigie Tanner, and in August, William Bridges and Paul Clark.
Fall shows include Jeff Chirchirillo and David Schachman in September,  Marie DeLean and Suzanne Metzel in October and Mark Kaufman and Bob Tanner in November.
Winter shows include Christopher Schneberger in December, Laura Friedlander and Donna Spence in January and Hass Adamji and Katsy Johnson in February.
The gallery is open Thursdays and Saturdays from noon to 6 p.m., Fridays from noon to 8 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. For more information, call 224-200-1155.
