Evanston city officials say we’re expected to get the first significant snowfall of the season Saturday evening.

Assistant Public Works Director James Maiworm says the snow is expected to continue into early Sunday morning, ending around 3 a.m.

Maiworm says public works crews have been applying anti-icing chemicals to the main and collector streets in the city today and are on standby to work Saturday night into Sunday.

Temperatures are expected to drop once the snow — expected to total an inch or less — stops falling.
