1454 Elmwood
Chad N. Surdich, 32, of 1720 Central St., was arrested at Evanston police headquarters at 4 p.m. yesterday and charged with simple battery. He is due in court on Aug. 31 at 10:30 a.m.
Burglary
1100 Madison
A bicycle was stolen from the unlocked garage of a home in the 1100 block of Madison Street between July 19 and 8:30 a.m. yesterday.
300 Callan
Burglars damaged the lock and frame to the door of an apartment storage locker in the 300 block of Callan Avenue around 1:05 p.m. yesterday and stole a lawn mower and an air conditioner window unit.
Criminal Damage
300 Custer
Someone damaged the hood and slashed the right front tire of a Dodge vehicle in the 300 block of Custer Avenue between 6:30 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. yesterday.
Robbery
300 Chicago
A robber grabbed a wallet, cash, and a cell phone out of the hands of a 52-year-old woman in the 300 block of Chicago Avenue at about 12:50 a.m. today. Suspect is a 6-foot-2-inch-tall black male weighing 170 pounds.
Theft
2400 Howard
A bottle of tequila and a bottle of brandy were stolen off the shelves of a grocery store in the 2400 block of Howard Street at about 11:50 a.m. yesterday.
1800 Central
Someone stole plants potted in gold-colored vases in the 1800 block of Central Street between 5:30 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. yesterday.
600 Main
A bicycle secured to a bike rack in the 600 block of Main Street was stolen yesterday between 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
