Laptop stolen at downtown library

An unattended laptop computer was stolen at the Evanston Public library. This among the stories in today’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.

Criminal Damage

1900 Dempster

A rock was thrown on the windshield of a 2004 Toyota in the 1900 block of Dempster Street around 3:20 p.m. yesterday.

619 Emerson

Peter J. Mannix, 54, of 8509 Milwaukee Ave., Niles, was arrested at 619 Emerson St. at 3:46 a.m. today and charged with violating the alcohol transportation ordinance. He is due in court on Aug. 21 at 9 a.m.

Theft

900 Davis

A bicycle locked to a bike rack was stolen in the 900 block of Davis Street between 6 p.m. Friday and 6:03 p.m. yesterday.

600 Davis

A cell phone was taken from a desk at a nail salon in the 600 block of Davis Street around 7 p.m. yesterday.

1700 Orrington

A laptop computer and a bag, left unattended at the Evanston Public Library, was stolen between 3:45 p.m. and 3:55 p.m. yesterday.

1700 Dodge

A bicycle was stolen from the yard of a home in the 1700 block of Dodge Avenue between 11 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday.

Traffic

South Boulevard at Chicago

William J. MacWilliams, 70, of 177 W. McClung Road, La Porte, Ind., was arrested at South Boulevard and Chicago Avenue at 10:26 p.m. yesterday and charged with driving under the influence. He is due in court on July 31 at 10:30 a.m.

Western at Howard

Marina Polycarpe-Gordon, 41, of 9119 Lamon Ave., Skokie, was arrested at Western Avenue and Howard Street at 12:30 a.m. today and charged with a traffic violation. She is due in court on Aug. 10 at 9 a.m.

Incidents listed appear among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court in Skokie.
