Traffic restrictions next week on Chicago Ave.

Motorists might want to schedule some extra time for driving on Chicago Avenue in Evanston next week, due to some road work.

Crews will be restoring asphalt on the road between Howard Street and Juneway Terrace from Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., according to a news release from the city.

Parking will be prohibited and modified traffic patterns will be established while crews are working. Normal parking and traffic patterns will be permitted when crews are not present.

Signage will be erected to assist drivers and pedestrians during working hours, the release promised.

Bike lanes

The way the bike lanes on this stretch randomly start and disappear is weird. The road should be 2 lanes, with bike lanes the whole distance from Howard to South Blvd.
