Applications open for Citizen Police Academy

The Evanston Police Department is accepting applications for the spring session of the popular Citizen Police Academy, which runs from March 1 through May 17.

The free program gives participants a closer look at policing as it relates to Evanston and has been found to be particularly useful to persons interested in a career in law enforcement as well as for residents who would like to be more civically engaged.

The academy, established in 1995, meets weekly on Thursday evenings from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  Its programs consist of lectures and discussions that provide an in-depth view into various areas of law enforcement. 

Upon completion of the course, graduates receive a diploma, academy jacket, and a class photo. In addition, graduates will be encouraged to join the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association.
