The Evanston Fire Department has announced the promotion of three staff members, effective tonight.

Capt. Emanuel Perrino, a 27-year veteran of the department, will be promoted to shift chief. Perrino has many certifications, including confined space rescue, along with trench and rope rescue. He has been instrumental in the development of the department’s training program and has led several important initiatives through his leadership within the EFD and Local 742. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Fire Science 

Fire Apparatus Operator Michael Spillane will be promoted to the rank of captain. F.A.O. Spillane is a 22-year veteran of the department. He has served as an F.A.O since the inception of the program. F.A.O Spillane has his bachelors degree in Fire Science and is certified as an Instructor II. He is also a long time instructor at the Illinois Fire Service Institute in Champaign.

Firefighter/Paramedic Justin Morson, a 12-year veteran of the department, is a certified fire apparatus operator and will now be promoted to the full-time position of fire apparatus operator. Firefighter Morson is certified in vehicle and machinery operations, and as an Instructor I.
