Eight seniors at Evanston Township High School have been named 2014 National Merit Scholarship semifinalists and two were named semifinalists in the National Achievement Scholarship competition, the school announced.
Named national merit semifinalists were Emmanuel R. Dallas, Joshua E. Davidoff, Zachary B. Favakeh, Henry C. Magnuson, Rebecca E. Posner, Anna E. Winter, Nathan J. Shelly, and Talia E. Weiss.
National achievement semifinalists were Jonathan V. Denose and Taylor M. Sims.
High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and by meeting published program entry/participation requirements.
Semifinalists have an opportunity to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships worth more than $35 million, to be offered next spring.
