Evanston health officials reported 10 new COVID-19 cases among city residents today, the highest number in more than a week.
The seven-day average of new cases here now stands at 4.6. The total case count in Evanston now is 938, but the death toll has remained unchanged at 71 for more than five weeks.
Chicago reported 337 new cases today for a total of 66,138 and five more deaths for a total of 2,828.
Suburban Cook County reported 279 new cases for a total of 49,822 and four more deaths for a total of 2,134.
Statewide there were 1,562 more cases for a total of 206,081 and 18 more deaths for a total of 7,744.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 37,089 tests for COVID-19 today, down from the seven-day average of nearly 42,000 daily tests. The positive rate for tests today was 4.2% compared to a 4.1% seven-day average positive rate.
The state reported test results for 167 Evanston residents today and noted six positive cases for a positive rate of 3.6%
