Evanston health officials reported 10 new COVID-19 cases in the city today, up from nine yesterday. The city’s coronavirus death toll increased by one today to 116.

Statewide there were 3,630 new cases, compared to 4,004 yesterday.

The Illinois Department of Public Health today reported that 175,681 people were vaccinated yesterday, the third one-day record in a row. The seven day average is up from a week ago.

A total of 7.05 million vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday, about 77% of the total 9.00 million doses distributed to the state by the federal government. The IDPH says 21.80% of the state’s population is now fully vaccinated.

Cook County, including Chicago, is only in the middle of the pack among counties in Illinois in the share of residents vaccinated so far.

Reported COVID-19 deaths in Illinois totaled 13 yesterday down from 19 the day before, and the seven day average of deaths is down slightly from a week ago.

The number of COVID-19 tests reported fell today, but the seven-day test average is up from a week ago.

The IDPH reported tests of 1,431 Evanston residents today, compared to 1,452 yesterday. The IDPH found eight positive cases here for a daily positive rate of 0.6%. The seven-day positive rate here is down substantially from a week ago.

The state now says Evanston has had a total of 4,554 cases. The city’s tally is 4,321.

COVID-19 deaths reported in Cook County since yesterday include a man in his 40s, two men in their 50s a man in his 70s and a woman in her 90s.

As of last night, 1,831 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 381 patients were in the ICU and 178 of those were on ventilators.
