An Evanston man pleaded guilty to second degree murder charges Monday and was sentenced to 10 years in prison for fatally beating a man who offered to kiss him during a party.

The Chicago Tribune reports that Ricardo E. Munoz, 38, of 1225 Dodge Ave., and his victim, Juan L. Sanchez, 34, were both at a party in Sanchez’s building at 1223 Dodge on a Saturday night in July 2011 when the incident occurred.

Police say both men had been drinking heavily and were intoxicated at the time of the fight.

Sanchez was found dead in his basement apartment by friends the following afternoon.
