Evanston health officials reported 11 new COVID-19 cases today while across the state 2,056 people were diagnosed with the disease.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 57,800 tests for the coronavirus today. That’s the highest number of tests in nearly two weeks. The positive rate today was 3.6%, essentially the same as the seven-day average.

The IDPH reported test results for 275 Evanston residents and it identified six positive cases for a positive rate of 2.2%. Five of those cases were in the north Evanston 60201 ZIP Code.

By the city’s count Evanston now has had 1,075 COVID-19 cases. The city’s death toll has remained unchanged at 73 for a week.

Chicago reported 400 new cases today for a total of 76,242 but no new deaths, with its death toll remaining at 2,923.

Suburban Cook County reported 347 more cases today for a total of 50,751 and one additional death for a total of 2,224.
