Evanston health officials reported 11 new COVID-19 cases today, up from 23 yesterday. The city’s death toll remained unchanged today at 94.
Statewide there were 5,644 new cases today, compared to 4,453 yesterday, for a new total of 948,006.
The state reported 105 deaths today, the same as yesterday, for a new total of 16,179.
The state reported 66,786 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 51,046 yesterday.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported tests of 454 Evanston residents today, compared to 259 yesterday. It found 11 positive cases for a daily positive rate of 2.4%.
The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,118 cases, while Evanston’s health department counts 3,059 cases.
Chicago reported 722 new cases today for a total of 202,346. Its coronavirus death toll increased by 14 today to 4,102.
Suburban Cook County reported 1,014 more cases today for a total of 186,040 and 16 more deaths for a total of 3,657.
Those who died in Cook County today included a woman in her 40s, a man in his 50s, five women and six men in their 60s, four women and five men in their 70s, three women and three men in their 80s, one woman and two men in their 90s and one woman over 100 years old.
As of last night, 4,313 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 904 patients were in the ICU and 506 of those were on ventilators.
