Evanston health officials reported 11 new COVID-19 cases today, up from seven yesterday. The city’s COVID-19 death toll remained unchanged for an eighth day at 110.

Statewide there were 1,966 new cases today, compared to 1,795 yesterday, for a new total of 1,168,683.

The Illinois Department of Public Health today reported that 73,091 people were vaccinated yesterday, compared to 40,380 the day before, and the seven-day average increased to 61,132.

A total of 1,977,032 vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday, about 77% of the total 2,552,000 doses distributed to the state by the federal government. The IDPH says 3.71% of the state’s population is now fully vaccinated.

Illinois reported 72 COVID-19 deaths today, compared to 23 yesterday, for a new total of 20,129.

The state reported 67,542 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 49,937 yesterday.

The IDPH reported tests of 382 Evanston residents today, compared to 272 yesterday. The IDPH found five positive cases here for a daily positive rate of 1.3%.

The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,940 cases. The city’s case count is 3,807.

Chicago reported 259 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 241,510 and seven more death for a total of 4,810.

Suburban Cook County reported 303 new cases today for a total of 226,476 and 20 more deaths for a total of 4,410.

The IDPH reported that the deaths in Cook County included a man in his 40s, a woman in her 50s, one woman and four men in their 60s, one woman and four men in their 70s, four women and nine men in their 80s, one woman in her 90s and one woman and one man over 100 years old.

As of last night, 1,655 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 386 patients were in the ICU and 184 of those were on ventilators.
