Evanston health officials reported 12 new COVID-19 cases today, up from seven yesterday. The city’s COVID death toll remained unchanged today at 108.
Statewide there were 3,660 new cases today, compared to 3,328 yesterday, for a new total of 1,141,219.
The Illinois Department of Public Health today reported that 74,965 people were vaccinated yesterday, compared to 62,318 the day before.
A total of 1,231,417 vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday, about 58% of the total 2,132,025 doses distributed to the state by the federal government. The IDPH says 2.14% of the state’s population is now fully vaccinated.
Illinois reported 82 COVID-19 deaths today, compared to 69 yesterday, for a new total of 19,526.
The state reported 105,085 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 101,307 yesterday.
The IDPH reported tests of 2,221 Evanston residents today, compared to 1,754 yesterday. The IDPH found 14 positive cases here for a daily positive rate of 0.6%.
The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,786 cases. The city’s case count is 3,660.
Chicago reported 695 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 237,036 and nine more deaths for a total of 4,692.
Suburban Cook County reported 564 new cases today for a total of 221,564 and 22 more deaths for a total of 4,285.
The IDPH reported that the deaths in Cook County included a man in his 30s, a man in his 40s, a man and a woman in their 50s, eight men in their 60s, one woman and three men in their 70s, three women and seven men in their 80s and four women in their 90s.
As of last night, 2,318 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 491 patients were in the ICU and 254 of those were on ventilators.
