Evanston health officials reported 12 new COVID-19 cases in the city today, up from 11 yesterday. The city’s coronavirus death toll has remained unchanged at 116 for over three weeks.
Statewide there were 2,813 new cases, compared to 3,207 yesterday.
The Illinois Department of Public Health today reported that 87,494 people were vaccinated yesterday. The seven day vaccination average is down by 19% from a week ago.
A total of 9.35 million vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday, about 78% of the total 11.80 million doses distributed to the state by the federal government. The IDPH says 32.07% of state residents are now fully vaccinated. The vaccination rate is 33.62% in suburban Cook County.
Reported COVID-19 deaths in Illinois totaled 33 today, down from 33 the day before. The seven day average of deaths is up from a week ago.
The number of COVID-19 tests reported fell today, and the seven-day test count average is down slightly from a week ago.
The IDPH reported tests of 1,135 Evanston residents today, compared to 2,218 yesterday. The IDPH found 15 positive cases here today. The seven-day positive rate here is up from a week ago.
The state now says Evanston has had a total of 4,810 cases. The city’s tally is 4,531.
COVID-19 deaths reported in Cook County since yesterday include a man in his 40s, a woman in her 50s, two women and one man in their 60s and three men in their 70s.
As of last night, 2,000 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19 a decrease from the day before. Of those, 473 patients were in the ICU and 238 of those were on ventilators.
