Evanston reported 13 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 666, but the death toll here remained unchanged at 30.

Chicago reported 595 new cases for a total of 42,967 and 15 more deaths for a total of 1955.

Across Illinois there were 1,713 additional cases for a total of 112,017 and 28 more deaths for a total of 4,884.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 22,643 tests for the coronavirus disease today with a 7.9% positive rate. That’s notably lower than the 9.3% average of positive rates for the past seven days.

The IDPH reported results of 89 additional COVID-19 tests of Evanston residents today, with 14 positive results for a positive rate of 15.7% The IDPH case count numbers differ from those issued by the city. Seventy-one percent of the positive results reported by the IDPH today came from the south Evanston ZIP Code, although only 51% of the tests were conducted there.

All the metrics used by the state to determine whether the four regions of Illinois are on track to move to Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois plan on May 29 continue to show that they are.
