Evanston reported 13 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 457, while there were 2,325 new cases statewide, bringing the state’s total to 76,085.

Chicago reported 858 new cases for a total of 30,393.

Evanston reported one additional death for a total of 15. Chicago reported 41 more deaths for a total of 1,289. Statewide there were 108 additional deaths, for a total of 3,349.

The state reported results of 16,617 additional tests for the novel coronavirus, close to the average number of daily tests conducted over the past week. The rate of positive tests today was just under 14%, essentially unchanged from yesterday, but down two percentage points from a week ago.

Slightly more than 1.1% of Chicago residents now have tested positive for COVID-19, while 0.61% of Evanston residents have received positive test results. That’s just slightly above the statewide average of 0.60%.

Of every 10,000 residents in each area, about 2 people have died in Evanston, 2.6 across the state and 4.7 in Chicago.

For the first time in two months, Gov. J.B. Pritzker did not hold a daily news conference today about the COVID-19 crisis. His next news conference is scheduled for Monday afternoon.
