Evanston health officials reported 13 new COVID-19 cases today, up from six yesterday. The city’s COVID death toll increased by two today to 108.

Statewide there were 3,314 new cases today, compared to 2,304 yesterday, for a new total of 1,134,231.

The Illinois Department of Public Health today reported that 65,166 people were vaccinated yesterday, compared to 32,559 the day before. That’s the highest one day vaccination total so far.

A total of 1,094,135 vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday, about 53% of the total 2,079,525 doses distributed to the state by the federal government. The IDPH says 1.88% of the state’s population is now fully vaccinated.

The state reported 69 COVID-19 deaths today, compared to 47 yesterday, for a new total of 19,375.

The state reported 96,894 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 60,899 yesterday.

The IDPH reported tests of 602 Evanston residents today, compared to 200 yesterday. The IDPH found 14 positive cases here for a daily positive rate of 2.3%.

??The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,758 cases. The city’s case count is 3,641.

Chicago reported 573 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 235,939 and nine more deaths for a total of 4,666.

Suburban Cook County reported 533 new cases today for a total of 220,305 and 16 more deaths for a total of 4,260.

The IDPH reported that the deaths in Cook County included one man in his 20s, one woman in her 30s, one man in his 50s, three women and one man in their 60s, one women and six men in their 70s, four women and three men in their 80s, two women and two men in their 90s and one women over 100 years old.

As of last night, 2,469 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 520 patients were in the ICU and 270 of those were on ventilators.
