Evanston police say a 14-year-old Evanston resident has been charged with burglary after he was positively identified by the victim of an incident that took place Sunday in the 2000 block of Emerson Street.

Police say the victim came home to find the youth inside the house. The burglar had gotten in by cutting a screen and climbing through a bedroom window.

The burglar fled the scene, but juvenile detectives investigating the case worked with the victim to identify the suspect, who was taken into custody Thursday.

He’s now been remanded to the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center.
