Evanston health officials reported 15 new COVID-19 cases today, up from 11 yesterday. The city’s COVID-19 death toll remained unchanged for a ninth day at 110.
Statewide there were 2,219 new cases today, compared to 1,966 yesterday, for a new total of 1,170,902.
The Illinois Department of Public Health today reported that 83,673 people were vaccinated yesterday, compared to 73,091 the day before, but the seven-day average decreased to 59,460.
A total of 2,060,706 vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday, about 78% of the total 2,631,975 doses distributed to the state by the federal government. The IDPH says 3.99% of the state’s population is now fully vaccinated.
Illinois reported 63 COVID-19 deaths today, compared to 72 yesterday, for a new total of 20,192.
The state reported 64,629 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 67,542 yesterday.
The IDPH reported tests of 403 Evanston residents today, compared to 382 yesterday. The IDPH found 21 positive cases here for a daily positive rate of 5.2%.
The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,961 cases. The city’s case count is 3,822.
Chicago reported 271 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 241,781 and nine more deaths for a total of 4,819.
Suburban Cook County reported 433 new cases today for a total of 226,909 and six more deaths for a total of 4,416.
The IDPH reported that the deaths in Cook County included a man in his 30s, a man in his 50s, three women and three men in their 70s, two women and one man in their 80s and three women and two men in their 90s.
As of last night, 1,596 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 366 patients were in the ICU and 190 of those were on ventilators.
