Evanston health officials reported 16 new COVID-19 cases today, down from 17 yesterday. The city’s death toll remained unchanged today at 100.

Statewide there were 5,862 new cases today, compared to 6,642 yesterday, for a new total of 1,046,030.

The state today reported that a total of 384,658 vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday and 0.65% of the state’s population is now fully vaccinated.

The state reported 97 COVID-19 deaths today, compared to 116 yesterday, for a new total of 17,840.

The state reported 76,107 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 93,491 yesterday.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported tests of 282 Evanston residents today, compared to 1,189 yesterday. The IDPH found 23 positive cases here for a daily positive rate of 8.2%.

The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,441 cases, while Evanston’s health department counts 3,368 cases.

Chicago reported 888 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 220,190 and 14 new deaths, for a total of 4,383.

Suburban Cook county reported 1,170 new cases today for a total of 204,027 and 13 more deaths for a total of 3,986.

The IDPH reported that the deaths in Cook County included a man in his 40s, a a man in his 50s, three and five men in their 60s, four women and four men in their 70s, three women and four men in their 80s and one woman and one man in their 90s.

As of last night, 3,624 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 749 patients were in the ICU and 386 of those were on ventilators.
