Evanston health officials reported 17 new COVID-19 cases today, down from 26 yesterday. The city’s death toll remained unchanged today at 92.

Statewide there were 6,003 new cases today, compared to 7,562 yesterday, for a new total of 900,370.

The state reported 79 deaths today, compared to 108 yesterday, for a new total of 15,202.

The state reported 78,079 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 96,851 yesterday.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported tests of 1,435 Evanston residents today, compared to 925 yesterday. It found 16 positive cases for a daily positive rate of 1.1%.

The state now says Evanston has had a total of 2,970 cases, while Evanston’s health department counts 2,914 cases.

Chicago reported 1,132 new cases today for a total of 193,902. Its coronavirus death toll increased by 16 today to 3,920.

Suburban Cook County also reported 1,132 more cases today for a total of 177,186 and 23 more deaths for a total of 3,455.

Those who died in Cook County today included a man in his 40s, a man in his 50s, one woman and nine men in their 60s, three women and four men in their 70s, eight women and four men in their 80s, three women and four men men in their 90s and one woman over 100 years old.

As of last night, 4,389 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 991 patients were in the ICU and 546 of those were on ventilators.
