18 new COVID cases here, 4,711 across state

Suburban Cook County's COVID case count tops 200K. But Evanston's positive rate is declining.

Evanston health officials reported 18 new COVID-19 cases today, up from 13 yesterday. The city’s death toll remained unchanged today at 98.

Statewide there were 4,711 new cases today, compared to 6,717 yesterday, for a new total of 1,028,750.

The state reported 80 COVID-19 deaths today, compared to 99 yesterday, for a new total of 17,574.

The state reported 77,775 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 102,903 yesterday.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported tests of 1,926 Evanston residents today, compared to 1,351 yesterday. The IDPH found 18 positive cases here for a daily positive rate of 0.9%.

The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,394 cases, while Evanston’s health department counts 3,3127 cases.

Chicago reported 894 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 217,158 and 31 new deaths, for a total of 4,346.

Suburban Cook county reported 905 new cases today for a total of 200,632 and 28 more deaths for a total of 3,932.

The IDPH reported that the deaths in Cook County included a woman and a man in their 30s, three women and one man in their 40s, two men in their 50s, five women and two men in their 60s, six women and 12 men in their 70s, 10 women and five men in their 80s and four women and seven men in their 90s.

As of last night, 3,527 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 740 patients were in the ICU and 391 of those were on ventilators.
