It turns out the 1800 Club bar in the 1800 Sherman Ave. building hasn’t closed — it has just dramatically cut back its hours for the summer.

Manager Eric Sheffler says the bar attracts a mostly student clientele, and with most Northwestern University students away for the summer, it’s eliminated its lunch service until fall and is only open at the dinner hour some days.

Sheffler also says the bar will ultimately pay its overdue property tax bill, but because of the slow revenue stream during the summer, the owners would rather pay the late fees than have to come up with the cash immediately.

If you’re planning to head over there, Sheffler says the current schedule is:
8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday.
4 p.m. to 3 a.m. Thursday and Friday.
6 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday.

Sheffler says the bar will return to its full schedule in mid-September.
