Evanston health officials reported 19 new COVID-19 cases today, up from nine. The city’s COVID death toll remained unchanged today at 104
Statewide there were 7,042 new cases today, compared to 4,979 yesterday, for a new total of 1,093,375.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker, at his news conference this afternoon, said the Biden administration is unravelling the mess left behind by the previous administration in the COVID-19 response.
The Illinois Department of Public Health today reported that a total of 616,676 vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday, about 43% of the total 1,446,375 doses distributed to the state by the federal government. The IDPH says 1.06% of the state’s population is now fully vaccinated.
The state reported 95 COVID-19 deaths today, compared to 122 yesterday, for a new total of 18,615.
The state reported 125,831 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 99,036 yesterday.
The IDPH reported tests of 3,441 Evanston residents today, compared to 624 yesterday. The IDPH found 25 positive cases here for a daily positive rate of 1.1%.
The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,599 cases. The city’s case count stands at 3,504.
Chicago reported 1,226 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 228,825 and 35 more deaths, for a total of 4,532.
Suburban Cook County reported 1,313 new cases today for a total of 212,832 and nine more deaths for a total of 4,127.
The IDPH reported that the deaths in Cook County included a woman in her 30s a woman and three men in their 50s, eight women and nine men in their 60s, one woman and 11 men men in their 70s, five women and four men in their 80s, and one man in his 90s.
As of last night, 3,179 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 661 patients were in the ICU and 348 of those were on ventilators.
