A 44-year-old Evanston man and a 28-year-old Chicago man share a rare thing in common today. They were both arrested twice within a 24-hour period, according to today’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.

BATTERY

900 Dodge

Deon Lee, 28, of 6715 California Ave., Chicago, was arrested yesterday at 12:40 p.m .at the 7-11 convenience store at Main Street and Dodge Avenue, where he was charged with robbery in connection with an incident that happened on July 18. Then at 1:26 a.m. today, while still in custody, police said, he was charged with battery for allegedly spitting in the faces of two officers.

1415 Howard

Ramiz G. Mirza, 44, of 1415 Howard St., was arrested at 12:55 p.m. at that address and charged with battery as a result of a spat with another resident of the apartment building where they both lived. Then a few hours later, at 8:31 p.m., he was again arrested on a battery charge at Evanston Hospital, 2650 Ridge Ave., for clashing with a hospital employee. He is due in court on Aug. 28 at 9 a.m.

BURGLARY

1600 Cleveland

Removal of a window screen at a home in the 1600 block of Cleveland Street was considered evidence of an attempted burglary between midnight and 7:15 a.m. today.

1400 Wesley

An unlocked 2013 Chrysler was entered between 3 p.m. Monday and 8:56 a.m. yesterday. Nothing was reported taken.

1600 Wesley

Cash was taken from an unlocked 2019 Nissan in the 1600 block of Wesley Avenue between 8 p.m. Monday and 8:30 a.m. yesterday.

SHOTS HEARD

700 Grey

Gunshots were reported in the 700 block of Grey Avenue at 9:05 p.m. yesterday. Police checked the area but found nothing.

THEFT

1300 Davis

A 2014 Buick was stolen in the 1300 block of Davis Street between 10:30 p.m. Monday and 5:50 a.m. yesterday.

1400 Crain

A secured bicycle was stolen from the yard of a home in the 1400 block of Crain Street between 6 p.m. Sunday and 2:44 p.m. yesterday.

1600 Dodge

A secured bicycle was stolen from the grounds of Evanston Township High School between noon and 2:40 p.m. yesterday.

2000 Ashland

An unsecured bicycle was stolen from the 2000 block of Ashland Avenue between 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday.

TRAFFIC

Dobson at Custer

Hemanuel Enriquez-Ramirez, 26, of 126 Custer Ave.,, was arrested at Dobson Street and Custer Avenue at  6:20 p.m. yesterday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on Sept. 9 at 9 a.m.

1200 Ridge

Michael Z. Gresham-Waite, 20, of 2143 W. Chase Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 1200 Ridge Ave. at 6:30 p.m. Friday and charged with a traffic violation.

Incidents listed appear among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court in Skokie.
