Two members of the Evanston Fire Department, who have served the city a combined total of 72 years, are retiring next week, the city has announced.

They are Captain Michael Adam and firefighter/paramedic David Ellis.

Adam started his years with the department on Jan. 20, 1975, and has served for more than 38 years.

Ellis started on July 29, 1979, and has served for more than 34 years.

“Both Michael and David have served our department and the City of Evanston with honor and distinction throughout their careers. We are thankful for all they have done to leave our department in a better place,” said Chief Greg Klaiber.

Both retirements are effective next Tuesday.
