An Evanston man is being held on $2 million bond on charges he stabbed another man to death Tuesday night.

Police say Michael E. Anderson, 26, of 2120 Seward St., was drinking in his home with David L. Branch, 26, of the 400 block of Custer Avenue, when the two got into an argument.

Anderson allegedly stabbed Branch four times in the upper right leg. The wounds severed Branch’s femoral artery, causing him to lose a large quantity of blood, which led to his death a short time later at St. Francis Hospital.

Anderson’s next appearance in Skokie district court on the first degree murder charge is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Jan. 11.
