Evanston health officials reported 20 new COVID-19 cases today, up from four yesterday. The city’s COVID death toll remained unchanged today at 104.
Statewide there were 3,528 new cases today, compared to 5,152 yesterday, for a new total of 1,101,819.
The Illinois Department of Public Health today reported that a total of 681,472 vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday, about 42% of the total 1,636,775 doses distributed to the state by the federal government. The IDPH says 1.18% of the state’s population is now fully vaccinated.
The state reported 39 COVID-19 deaths today, compared to 96 yesterday, for a new total of 18,750.
The state reported 90,138 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 110,178 yesterday.
The IDPH reported tests of 2,148 Evanston residents today, compared to 1,732 yesterday. The IDPH found 24 positive cases here for a daily positive rate of 1.1%.
The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,630 cases. The city’s case count stands at 3,528.
Chicago reported 622 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 230,403 and five more deaths, for a total of 4,559.
Suburban Cook County reported 705 new cases today for a total of 214,524 and 15 more deaths for a total of 4,147.
The IDPH reported that the deaths in Cook County included a woman in her 40s, a man in his 50s, a woman and two men in their 60s, three women and six men in their 70s, two women and two men in their 80s, and two women in their 90s.
As of last night, 2,994 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 617 patients were in the ICU and 321 of those were on ventilators.
