Coast Guard crews are continuing to search several miles of Lake Michigan from Highland Park to Lake Forest for a man missing after his kayak overturned during a storm Monday evening.
Update 5:09 p.m.: Police in Highland Park now say initial reports that the missing man was a Northwestern University student are incorrect. They’ve identified the missing man as Sebastian Duncan of Glenview.
The 20-year-old man was reported missing by another 20-year-old kayaker who’d managed to swim to shore after their kayaks took on water and overturned.
The Coast Guard and marine units from Lake Forest and Highland Park searched until about 2 a.m. and then resumed the search this morning.
Reportedly neither man was wearing a life jacket when their boats overturned.
