Evanston health officials reported 21 new COVID-19 cases today, down from 33 reported yesterday. The city’s death toll remained unchanged at 88.
Statewide there were 7,910 new cases today, compared to 8,691 yesterday, for a new total of 804,174.
The state reported 144 deaths today, compared to 88 yesterday, for a new total of 13,487.
The state reported 95,825 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 77,569 yesterday.
State officials today discussed plans for distribution of the first doses of coronavirus vaccines during the governor’s afternoon news conference.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported tests of 313 Evanston residents today, compared to 593 yesterday. It found 12 positive cases for a daily positive rate of 3.8%.
The state now says Evanston has had a total of 2,637 cases, while Evanston’s health department counts 2,580 cases.
Chicago reported 1,179 new cases today for a total of 175,752. Its coronavirus death toll increased by 18 today to 3,645.
Suburban Cook County reported 1,332 more cases today for a total of 159,452 and 14 more deaths for a total of 3,132.
Those who died in Cook County today included two men in their 30s, two women and three men in their 60s, one woman and four men in their 70s, seven women and two men in their 80s, three women and seven men in their 90s and two women over 100 years old.
As of last night, 5,199 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 1,071 patients were in the ICU and 626 of those were on ventilators.
