Evanston reported 22 more COVID-19 cases today for a total of 642. That’s the third highest daily case count of the pandemic so far. The city reported 2 more coronavirus deaths, bringing the death count to 29.

Chicago reported 937 additional cases today for a total of 41,402 and 44 more deaths for a total of 1,894.

Statewide there were 2,352 additional COVID-19 cases for a total of 107,796 and 75 additional deaths for a total of 4,790.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 25,114 tests for the coronavirus disease today with a 9.4% positive rate. That’s a bit better than the 9.6% average of positive rates for the past seven days.

The IDPH reported results of 86 additional COVID-19 tests of Evanston residents today, with 15 positive results for a positive rate of 10.4% The IDPH case count numbers differ from those issued by the city. Two thirds of the positive results reported by the IDPH today came from the south Evanston ZIP Code, although only 44% of the tests were conducted there.
