Evanston health officials reported 22 new COVID-19 cases today, up from 11 yesterday. The city’s death toll remained unchanged today at 94.

Statewide there were 7,374 new cases today, compared to 5,644 yesterday, for a new total of 955,380.

The state reported 178 deaths today, compared to 105 yesterday, for a new total of 16,357.

The state reported 74,573 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 66,786 yesterday.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported tests of 249 Evanston residents today, compared to 454 yesterday. It found 27 positive cases for a daily positive rate of 10.8%.

The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,145 cases, while Evanston’s health department counts 3,081 cases.

Chicago reported 1,177 new cases today for a total of 203,523. Its coronavirus death toll increased by 36 today to 4,138.

Suburban Cook County reported 1,364 more cases today for a total of 187,404 and 31 more deaths for a total of 3,688.

Those who died in Cook County today included a woman and a man in their 40s, four men in their 50s, three women and seven men in their 60s, five women and 13 men in their 70s, 10 women and nine men in their 80s, six women and six men in their 90s and one woman over 100 years old.

As of last night, 4,244 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 882 patients were in the ICU and 496 of those were on ventilators.
