Evanston health officials reported 23 new COVID-19 cases today, up from 11 yesterday. The city’s death toll remained unchanged today at 94.
Statewide there were 4,453 new cases today, compared to 3,767 yesterday, for a new total of 942,362.
The state reported 105 deaths today, compared to 104 yesterday, for a new total of 16,074.
The state reported 51,046 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 46,226 yesterday.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported tests of 259 Evanston residents today, compared to 539 yesterday. It found 14 positive cases for a daily positive rate of 5.4%.
The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,107 cases, while Evanston’s health department counts 3,048 cases.
Chicago reported 722 new cases today for a total of 201,443. Its coronavirus death toll increased by seven today to 4,088.
Suburban Cook County reported 816 more cases today for a total of 185,026 and 10 more deaths for a total of 3,641.
Those who died in Cook County today included one teenager, one man in his 40s, a woman in her 50s, one woman and one man in their 60s, two women and two men in their 70s, two women and two men in their 80s and one woman and two men in their 90s.
As of last night, 4,243 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 884 patients were in the ICU and 515 of those were on ventilators.
